I finally went and got my tires mounted, and I couldn’t be much happier.

Kinja'd!!!

Not only do they look awesome on the 80, but I’m amazed by how well they ride and how quiet they are. I’m not exactly shocked, since I had the exact same tires on my F250 right down to the size, and those were excellent right from the beginning.

Kinja'd!!!

For anybody with a stock 80 wondering if 285/75/16s will fit, I can confirm I have zero rubbing anywhere. Oh, and they’re cheaper than the KO2 in the stock size (275/70).

Next on the docket: brake pads, and painting the wheels/caps while I do that.

Those wheel caps may be the single worst thing on a Toyota in the last 30 years. The finish never lasts. But oh my word I can’t get over how clean your truck is.

White letter out. This is correct.

The caps are gross, and I’m missing one. I just ordered a fourth shitty one, since I’m going to paint them anyway.

The truck is shockingly nice for a New England 80, but it spent time in Texas and Ohio, so that’s probably why.

There was never any other option. If I have white letters, I’m turning them out.

I’m not big on black wheels. I thought about a gunmetal gray, but I don’t want to match the trim. So I’m going to hit them with a wire wheel, and if they clean up okay I’ll probably just clearcoat them again.

Alternatively, I was thinking at some point of painting the whole truck in a flat desert sand color, and in that case I’d get steelies and paint them to match.

Thanks! I’m all for meaty tires. Low profile sidewalls with bigger wheels is my least favorite thing that’s ever happened with cars. Gimmie more tire every time.

They last surprisingly long too. I love those tires.

I’ve heard they wear well. After about 4k miles the ones on my F250 still looked new, so I felt pretty good buying these.

33s on stock height look great. You’ll also notice you can corner harder and pick up a mpg or 2 on the highway...but you’ll be less quick

Very nice, I look forward to your ongoing reviews.

harder/ better/ faster/ stronger...

I didn’t think I could ever be less quick than I already was, but I’ll take it for the highway MPGs. They’re also quieter and ride nicer than the worn out Yokohamas that came off it.

I think the KO2 is the only All Terrain they make anymore, they discontinued the old AT when the KO2 came out.

Awesome. I’m probably getting an 04 Land Cruiser within the next few months and K02's are what I intend to throw onto it! Hows your LC been treating you so far?

It’s been great so far. I haven’t put a lot of miles on it, but it’s comfortable and nice to drive. Gonna have to find somewhere to take it off-road, but options are pretty limited in RI.

The 100 series are really cool. No more solid front axle, but you get the v8, which I think makes up for it. If I was honest with myself, the 100 would probably suit me better than the 80, but I love the look of the 80.

I think for the money you’ll pay for tires, there’s no point buying anything but the KO2...my truck is going to spend most of its time on road, since it’s my daily, and the tires really have excellent road manners. Then off road, they’re BFG ATs! Theyre just a fantastic all around tire.

I sure do love the look of the 80, but I’m pretty sure it’ll be too small inside for me. It also helps that the 04 that I’ll probably be getting will be either free, or really cheap if everything works out. I plan to use it as a beach truck in addition to taking it up to some off road parks.

I think I’m defiantly gonna grab the K02's for it. From everything I’m finding, they do seem to be the best!

I have a hard time imagining the 80 being too small inside for anybody, unless you regularly need to haul 7 people AND cargo.

I’m talking about driver seat space. I’m 6'10".

Airiest greenhouse I’ve ever been in. I’m not 6'10", but I’m 6'3" and have a ton of headroom and a lot of room left to mess with the seat. Obviously YMMV but I’d actually be surprised if the 100 has noticeably more tall-people driver head/legroom. Fancier adjustments, though, probably.

I still have the originals on my 2003 ford f250. 125k miles later... Lol, they are wayyyy overdue for new ones. I drive it maybe 6 times a year. So many cracks and only maybe 1/8 tread. I’ll probably replace em after the first of the year. After I replace mine on my camaro and my wifes car.

I’ve driven a 100 Lexus LX and fit like a glove. It also helps that the land cruiser that I am probably getting is in the $0-$5,000 range.
